I spent some time with Geoff Lawton at Zaytuna Farm shortly after completing my PDC back in April 2009. With laser like precision, Geoff scythed through my career change plans to study for an Msc in Alternative Technology. Instead he suggested that I design my own career pathway using experiential learning to empower me with skills and experience for greater impact in an uncertain future.
To guide me to this end, I’ve embarked upon a diploma in Applied Permaculture. This will comprise of ten modules of my designs demonstrating permaculture and systems design in action.
What distinguishes this alternative educational paradigm from the conventional is that these modules will be chosen by me based on my interests and personal boundaries that I want to stretch. Therefore I can devote my energy to what is meaningful and useful in the context of my own life experience. Additionally, built into the course, is the support of Richard Perkins my tutor, and our London based guild of fellow diploma students. These support mechanisms facilitate reflection, evaluation and signpost our continuous development.
This qualification is accredited by the Permaculture Association.Click here for further details about the course.
