Seeking practical solutions for a more sustainable lifestyle?
Permaculture uses whole system thinking to consciously create productive environments that mimic the diversity, stability and resilience of natural systems. With these techniques we can design for abundance, enjoy superior health and wellbeing, and empower ourselves towards more sustainable choices. Attending this two day introduction to permaculture course, you will learn about:
- the ethics and principles of permaculture
- useful design methods
- observation skills
- tackling a real design problem
- how to apply these techniques to design your own urban systems
Our teaching style will be lively, participatory and thought provoking. We hope that you will come away empowered and inspired to create your own meaningful solutions.

From previous Introduction to Permaculture courses at Stepney City Farm
This is the fifth time we are returning to Stepney City Farm to run the Introduction to Permaculture course. Being a working farm in the heart of the city of London, we like to have the participants get stuck in with some practical experience.
This course is information rich and we like to have the students challenge themselves in different ways.
Given a cohesive idea of what permaculture is all about
I enjoyed the interactive aspect of the course, the games were lots of fun and I enjoyed the hands-on work in the orchard
Really inspiring, lovely course tutors, very knowledgeable about their subject
